Robert Frost, in his poem, “The Road not Taken”, took the one less travelled. Bob Dylan found the answers to his many questions, “blowing in the wind” and Lou Reed, just cooed, “Hey Babe, Take a walk on the Wild side.”
Clearly, all these gentlemen must have been to the SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees.
With so much going on, and the World being a Stage, with us having so many choices, from festivals to action. In 2018:
More than 45 000 people took the Road Less Travelled to Kirkwood.
More than 45 000 people took a walk on the wild side
And their lives were changed.
We, at SPAR, are once again delighted to partner with the Kirkwood Wildsfees as it talks to so many values to which we hold dear. The values of entrepreneurship, of family, of passion, of fun, and embracing all things local.
As SPAR is a voluntary trading association, each and every one of our SPAR stores has its unique personality, driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of its owner, fired with a passion to serve their communities in a spirit of fun, friendship and family.
How similar are these to those who serve at the SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees
The SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees mirrors all of the SPAR values. That it is unique, cannot be argued. No other festival has the special flavour of Kirkwood Wildsfees. And it calls out loud, and proud, to families and friends to gather and commune and share the entrepreneurial passion and commitment of the wide spectrum of artists and stall holders. To Kuier!
In 2018, SPAR launched a “STOP Plastic “campaign with a view to reducing the number of plastic bags being sold through our stores, creating a bigger awareness of the dangers of plastic, the importance of re-using and re-cycling, and disposing of bags responsibly. The campaign was a great success with 3 million less plastic bags had been sold and, more importantly, a wave of awareness was growing.
But these campaigns and their messages need to be renewed, and revitalized, and repeated. Because, while plastic is a problem it is only people who can solve the problem. And as Bob Dylan’s says, “The answers, my friends, are blowing in the wind. So, this year, we would like you to Take a Walk on the Waste Side where will look at aMAZE-ing ways to solve our Plastic Problem. To partner and walk with us in trying to spread this message via the Wildsfees, with its strong links to conservation.
Tune the guitars, roll the drums, take the path less travelled, listen to the answers in the wind, let’s learn as we Walk on the Waste side, and lets KUIER at the 2019 SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees.
